  2. Totally agree. Did not know about his invention. Life would be very different without having this in our homes. The same for our country as New Zealand was the first to use refrigeration to export our products across the world.

  5. Kia ora Florence,

My name is Beren. I am a blog commenter from Auckland and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey Team. I am really looking forward to reading some of your posts and learning a bit about you :)

Wow, that is pretty amazing. Can you imagine where we would be without refrigeration? We would have to eat everything they day we cook it, you could never have leftovers!

Apparently Oliver invented his refrigeration machine in 1805, but did you know that it wasn’t until 1913 that home fridges were invented? I wonder why it took so long for Oliver’s invention to enter the market?

Thanks for sharing this blog post Florence, ka pai!

    Beren
    :)

  6. Hi Florence,
I liked how you chose someone that invented something practical, and not something like a weapon. I also liked how you said that he affected people's lives by allowing them to keep things cool. Would you want to invent something one day?
