Kiwi Sport | Volleyball

L.I To learn about the 2 different serves.

This week for Kiwisport (Volleyball) we learnt a new skill (Serve). We learnt 2 types of serves. The under armed serve and the over arm serve. We learnt how to step into the serve and how to hit it, We then tried to serve ourselves to our group. Once we thought we were good enough, we then did games with the whole class. We started with one person who will serve to the group of people, whoever caught the ball was to come over to the servers side. Whichever group got everyone over first will win. After we played that game we played another, this game was the same as the other game but to get someone over, you had to serve and the other person would have to use the asset skill to get it back over. I enjoyed this weeks lesson because we got to go back to a skill we have used at lunch time and perfect it.

Kiwi Sport Reflection

Today was our first lesson of Kiwi Sport for the year. Our Kiwi Sport coach was Brian, he was here to teach us Cricket. He comes from HPPC. To start off the lesson we were split into 2 groups. One group would be bowling and the other would be batting. For the batting part of the activity you were to be in small teams of 4 or 3. In those small teams one person from each team would go to the front part and pick up the bat. The person with the bat had 2 tennis balls in front of them, they would need to use the bat to hit the 2 balls, once they hit the ball the rest of the teams have to try and get the balls back. Next is the other group, The other group was doing bowling. When in the bowling you throw the ball to the wicket and if it hits the wicket you put a cone on the wicket. The goal was to beat the score. I found bowling hard because I am not that good at aiming.

Kiwi Sport | Tennis

LS2's new Kiwi sport for this term is Tennis. We have a teacher that knows a lot about tennis and his name is Peter. Peter has taught us a new skill called "Volley". Volley is an having an iron grasp on the tennis racket and having a smooth motion swing of the wrist. We also had time to do something different. What we did different was the serving, the ball is served from approximately the middle of the tennis court or near the baseline. I was not the best at Volley but my partner Victoria was. I really enjoyed tennis this week and I wonder what will happen next week.
