LS2 READING CHALLENGE | Book #17

Today I have decided to do another book for the LS2  Reading Challenge. The topic that I have chosen to do is Autobiography Or biography. The book I have chosen to do is called "Sisters" by Raina Telgemeier. Down below is a description about the story.

Raina uses her signature humor and charm in both present-day narrative and perfectly placed flashbacks to tell the story of her relationship with her sister, which unfolds during the course of a road trip from their home in San Francisco to a family reunion in Colorado.

I recommend this book because it is a story that wont make you bored, and its a story that will keep you interested.

LS2 READING CHALLENGE | Book #16

Today I have decided to do another book for the LS2 Reading Challenge. The topic that I have chosen is Humour. The book that I have chosen is called "Three Men in a Boat." Down below is a summary about the book.

A comic that has never been out of print since it was first published in 1889, Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat includes an introduction and notes by Jeremy Lewis in Penguin Classics.

I recommend this book because it can teach kids about what happens in the story, and it is great to have knowledge on something that may be useful sometime in life.

LS2 READING CHALLENGE | Book #15

Today I have decided to do another book for the LS2 reading challenge. The topic of the book is Historical Fiction. The book that I chose was "Al quiet on the western front." Down below is the summary of the book.

LS2 READING CHALLENGE | Book #14

Today I have decided to do  another book for the LS2 Reading challenge. The topic that I chose was Poetry book. The book I chose for this topic was "One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish by Dr. Suess. Down below will be a summary of the book that I read.

This book is about the different kinds of fish that are down in our ocean/sea. Is talks about the appearances of different fishes and that all fishes aren't the same. It talks about some of the fishes emotions that they feel. This book just sums up that everything we see are funny in its own way.

I recommend this book because it is a funny poetry book for kids to read.

SSR Selfie | Roald dahl | The giant peach

This week for SSR Selfie I have done the book James and the Giant Peach. For SSR Selfie you have to read a book for 15 minutes. Once 15 minutes were over we had to summarise the part that you had read. Once you finished summarising you had to take a photo of the book and yourself. The giant peach was made by Roald dahl.

Maori

This week for Maori we read a story called The Clay woman. The clay woman was about a God named Tane Mahuta. Tane Mahuta was a clever god. One morning he woke up to a sculpture made into a woman. Tane Laid his head against the sculpture, but with one blow the sculpture became a real life woman. People called her The Clay Woman because she was made out of Clay that Tane had been touching. For our task we had to make a D.L.O Showing the word Paikea in the middle, the map of New Zealand on one corner, The Whale and man in another corner, a photo/drawing of a Maori carving and a photo of the Ngati Porou Maori tribe. In my D.L.O I traced out 3 of the images and left one photo untraced.

Maori | Research

This week for Maori we had to listen to a story that Mrs Whaea odie read to us. It was called Remember that November. In the story i focused on one text. The text was when this man choose a topic. After we read the story Mrs Whaea odie  asked us to do research on Parihaka and Taranaki. We also had to search up a song by Tim Finn. It was called Parihaka. We also needed to search Parihaka and Taranaki on google maps. We have got gaven a paper of New Zealand. We had to draw a big dot so the people will know where Taranaki and Parihaka is.

Maori

This week was our first lesson on Maori. Mrs Whaea Odie read us a book to us. She read the book to us 2 terms ago. We then got to watch a video of a man drawing in sand Link. After we watched the video we got to learn a new song called Hoki mai e tama ma. We learnt it by looking at lyrics and listening to the song. The Song was very catchy so i caught onto it pretty fast. After that we had to get our Computers and search up Rohe of NZ. We found a link to a site that showed us places of where the Maori tribes stayed. We learnt that they stayed near the sea because there was food for them to eat. They would sometimes find coconut trees and grab the coconuts off the tree. Because it has coconut water in it and it has the white food part in it. So the Maori tribe keep it in the back of their canoe so if they really need something to drink and eat they would have the coconut.

A piece of paradise (An Aotearoa story)

This week for Reading we had to choose a book to summarize and work on. This week I chose A piece of paradise, it was about 2 gods of the sky, they fought over who had the best things or who created the best things. They found so much that they nearly ruined the land that they worked so hard on. I really like this story because it has a lot of detail.

In the Beginning

This week for reading we have to choose a book to talk about. I chose the story/Book In the beginning. It is about how the earth/World was created. I also talks about being grateful of what you have in life before it ends. In my D.L.O I have included a retell of the story and what the book/story teaches people. I have provided photos as well as the text that I have written. The Characters in the story was Rangi the sky and Papatuanuku the earth. The two characters Rangi and Papatuanuku they combined each other to create the earth.

The silent Red Book

This week for writing we watched a silent book. A silent book is a book with no words in it. We had to write down what the story might of been about. I think it was about a little girl who find a dog and decides to take care of it and they watch the sun set and saw a shooting star. I have made a slide presentation to show what I thought the story was talking about. I drew some photos and I got the photos from The Literacy Shed.
