Day 5 | Activity 2 | SLJ

This week for the summer learning journey I have completed Day 5 Activity 2. This activity was where I have to write a letter to a best friend or a family member. The letter had to explain what it's like to be in tundra. Tundra is a place that is cold, treeless and dry. Since I don't have a best friend right now & I don't know who to pick from my family, I have decided to write a letter to everyone who reads this. Down below is my letter.

Dear Everyone!
In tundra it is very cold. I still wonder why there are no trees. It's really dry here, the weather is alright. I've seen loads of animals here like deer type things. I also found out that the only plants that grow here are Mosses and shrubs. In summer, birds like to live in the tundra. Did you know that tundra is the Finnish word for tunturi. It means treeless plain. also did you know that areas of tundra lie between the permanent ice of the far north and the northern forests of north America.

  1. Hi Florence,

What an amazing blog post from you. Your letter sounds interesting. I liked it how you said that you wrote this letter to everyone. That is a great idea, because everyone who reads gets this instead of just your friend getting it. I liked it how you explained what it was lik in Tundra.

    Nice Work!

  3. Hello Florence,

I'm Evelyn and I am working with the Summer Learning Journey team for 2018-2019 to read and follow amazing blog posts like yours! I am so excited to read what pops into that wonderful brain of yours and hope you are having fun on this journey!

I love that you have addressed your letter to everyone, it's very thoughtful of you to include everyone who comes across you letter, thank you! It's great to see you including factual and useful information to better describe the tundra. I had no idea that the word tundra came from a Finnish word, thank you for teaching me something new! All the details you have added makes the experience seem so realistic and I feel like I've experienced it myself! The tundra is a really cold place... Do you think you would like to go and visit it?

    Keep up the hard work,
    Evelyn :)
