SLJ Week 1 Activity 1

Today is the first day of the Summer Learning Journey. LS2 worked with Room 5 to help them with their first activity. This activity was about scavenging for items in our class for materials that we'll need for the upcoming Summer Learning Journey activities. We really enjoyed this as we were able to find all the materials. I worked with Matheus in Room 5 to get this activity completed.

Are you participating in the summer learning journey?

What were some of the items that you chose to substitute for items that you couldn’t find in the classroom?

    1. Hi Renee!
Thank you for commenting on my blog post. Instead of 2 cans, we
used a 100's place value block, and a chrome book. Matheus has already posted this activity on his blog. I'll make sure to comment as much as I can during these holidays. Are you looking forward to the holidays as much as I am?
Thank you again for the comment!

    2. Tena koe Florence - well done again on being so resourceful and finding items to substitute in your scavenger hunt! I am glad to hear that Matheus has posted this activity on his blog too as you both did fantastic work. I sure am excited about the holidays, I can not wait to swim at the beach and spend time with my whanau. What are you most excited about doing over the holidays? That is wonderful that you are planning to leave quality comments on other learners' blogs this summer - keep up the great mahi!

    3. Hi Renee!
Thank you for replying to my comment! It's nice to hear that you are looking forward to the holidays. I am also not the best at swimming but I tend to try. I am most excited about spending time at x-mas with my aiga (Samoan word for family). What is your favorite thing about spending time with your whanau?

  2. Talofa lava Florence,
Wow! I really liked reading your blog post today. I liked that you have added a photo montage as a background of our screencastify. Yes, I have taken part in the summer learning journey and also completed my first task today. Next time try to add a learning intention as it helps the reader to know the what the blog post is about. Was their any equipment you couldn't find at school? If yes, what was it and how are you going to get it?
    Keep up the great work!

    1. Hi Sakshi!
Thank you for commenting on my blog! I'm glad to see that you are also participating in the summer learning journey this year. I will make sure that in the future I add a learning intention. We couldn't find the spoon and we aren't quiet sure where or what we'll use to replace it. Were there any items that your group couldn't find?
      Thanks again for the comment!

  3. Hi Florence,

Thank you for replying to my comment. I really appreciate it! I agree, finding the spoon was very hard. We couldn't find the spoon and a plastic bottle as we didn't have one. Did you find a plastic bottle?

In this activity, I liked that we learnt how to replace the stuff we couldn't find as it taught us how to handle a situation. We replaced a thread with a shoelace. Did you replace something?

I am looking forward for your reply!
