This week Wednesday we had a visit from Hiwi the Kiwi. Hiwi the kiwi came and visited us to teach us about the fish safety and the rules of fishing. We learnt about the different reasons on why we have less fish. We looked at how we could change the plastic pollution, the right sized fish that we are allowed to take home, and much more. Hiwi the kiwi came to talk to us because the safety of fishing, this knowledge that we grow can be shared onto our parents, so then our parents would also know about the fishing safety. We sang a few songs that had hidden messages in them. My favourite song that we sang was called Kai Moana. Down below will be a link to a video of Hiwi The Kiwi at another school, but the video will start at 6:00.
At the end of the whole visit we were told that there was a competition between the whole school. The competition was were we got to write a story about the visit/ information about the safety of fishing. LS2 has been doing Explanations Writing, Persuasive writing and narrative writing. The challenge was that when each piece of writing was submitted to Our principal Mr. Johnston, he would choose which story out of all of the stories written by each pupil at Panmure Bridge School was the Best. The person that got the best story would win the Hiwi The Kiwi Fishing Rod. I have been very excited because I hope that I win. This weeks visit was very fun, I really enjoyed having Hiwi the Kiwi come to our school. A big thank you to Hiwi the Kiwi (Mr Minstrel) and dancer (Mrs Minstrel).
