What is a Periscope?

This week we have been learning about Light and Sound. For this particular activity, we learnt about periscopes. Mr. Johnston made his own Periscope for LS2 to play with. A periscope is a tube that holds mirrors at the bottom and the top. You look through the bottom hole and you can see out above. Tanisha and I created this DLO about periscopes, we added 5 interesting facts, the definition of a periscope, and some words that relate to Periscopes. 

What is light?

This week we have been working with Mr. Johnston about light and sound. We have learnt about different waves e.g Heat waves, Microwaves etc.We created this DLO that includes 5 interesting facts about light, words that relate to Light and the definition. I worked with Tanisha to get this DLO completed. Did you know that white light is made up of the rainbow? (ROYGBIV). 

Kiwi Sport | Volleyball

L.I To learn about the 2 different serves.

This week for Kiwisport (Volleyball) we learnt a new skill (Serve). We learnt 2 types of serves. The under armed serve and the over arm serve. We learnt how to step into the serve and how to hit it, We then tried to serve ourselves to our group. Once we thought we were good enough, we then did games with the whole class. We started with one person who will serve to the group of people, whoever caught the ball was to come over to the servers side. Whichever group got everyone over first will win. After we played that game we played another, this game was the same as the other game but to get someone over, you had to serve and the other person would have to use the asset skill to get it back over. I enjoyed this weeks lesson because we got to go back to a skill we have used at lunch time and perfect it.

L.I To use the infrared sensors to follow the line 

This week at tech we learnt a new word. The word is "Infrared".  Infrared are sensors that can follow something that it is told to sense. We used Infrared on our M-bots to make the M-bot follow a line. We also used our knowledge from last week's lesson (Binary Numbers) to change the variables in the coding. We also learnt about "Ultra sonic Violet" This is the red colors are in a slower wave motion, but the Blue part of the rainbow is in a quicker motion.  I enjoyed this weeks tech because I got to learn a new word.

Gold Respect | Stan Walker - Climb

L.I To research Stan Walker "song" "Climb".

Today I have completed another activity for the Gold Respect. This activity is where you research the song "Climb" by Stan walker/Miley Cyrus.  For this activity I worked with Sakshi. We found out that this song was originally sung by Miley Cyrus, but Stan Walker had sung it on the Australian Idol, and won using the song in season 7.  I enjoyed doing this activity because I had  known information about this song and got to use it in this DLO.

L.I to complete a series of challenge in binary numbers.

This week at tech we did binary numbers with Ms. Ferguson. We learn that the word "Bi" in "Binary" means 2, and the word "Dec" in "Decimal" means 10. We played a game that challenged oue binary knowledge, we also completed a DLO that challenged us to use our binary knowledge and change the numbers from 1 - 26 to binary numbers. Next we were challenged to write our name in binary numbers, and also do a message in binary number. I enjoyed today's tech session because I got to learn new words.
