Kowhaiwhai Patterns

L.I To design a Kowhaiwhai pattern for our PBS Te reo blog.

For the past few weeks we have been creating Kowhaiwhai patterns for Ms. Pryde to use on the background of the Te reo blog. My Kowhaiwhai pattern are hooks upside down in the shape of hearts.  The hooks are to resemble good luck and the hearts resemble love.  I enjoyed this activity as I was able to create my own design. 

Ancestor Poem

L.I To write a poem to describe your ancestors using the literary devices of alliteration, onomatopoeia, metaphor, simile, hyperbole and rhyme.

For writing we have been writing a poem about our ancestors/culture. We have been learning how to use literary devices to write a powerful poem. I used a thesaurus to change my simple words to powerful ones. I enjoyed writing this poem as I was able to look deeper in to my culture and express who I am.

Tragedy at Tangiwai

L.I To form an opinion

 

For reading we have been learning about the Tangiwai disaster. The Tangiwai disaster was a tragedy that caused 151 people to die. We read a text about the disaster and wrote down some words that we didn't know the meaning to, we also wrote down a few questions that we wanted answers to. The DLO we created incldues a breif summary of what had happened, The questions we wanted to have answers to, the Words we wanted to define and 3 photos of the scene. I enjoyed doing this activity as I got to learn another part of New Zealands history.

PBS Livestream Assembly

For the past few weeks Panmure Bridge School has been live streaming the assembly due to Covid-19. This week was our 7th Live stream. This week I spoke for the first time along with Giovanni as the head students of our school.  For our assemblies we have Mrs. Kirkpatrick setting the live stream up, Mr. Johnston as the main speaker and Ms. Pryde as the lead singer along with some students. I enjoyed being apart of the assembly this week because it was a first time expereince.

Tech @ Tamaki College | Robotics

L.I To learn how to code an m-bot to sense something by using the force.

This week for tech we have been coding our M-Bots to sensor something. We have been coding our M-Bots so that if it sensors something in front of it, it will go backwards, if nothing is sensored, then it will continue to go forwards. We revised a new block called the "Ultrasonic Sensor". We have created a presentation showcasing the blocks that we revised, the block we need to use, the Input, the algorithm and the Output, The video of our M-bot sensoring and lastly, showcasing the blocks we used to code our m-bots and what the blocks did. I enjoyed this weeks tech session because my M-bot successfully did what it was suppose to do.

Cityscape of Auckland

L.I To write a description of my cityscape using prepositions

In the center of my cityscape you can see the tall gleaming prominent tower named the Sky Tower. It has an astonishing and fascinating view. Not many know that the Sky Tower is 328 meters tall and took 2 year and 9 months to make. The tower is surrounded by other tall structures such as the Vero building. It is known for the circle shape at the top. In the distance you can see the reflection of the sun shining down from the Sky Tower. The glamorous buildings/structures are all standing tall and glazing at us.

For my background, you can see a gradient color mix using the colors Red, Orange and Yellow. I used these colors as I was inspired by a sunset, The background colors are going Horizontally sideways, normally a sunset would go vertically down but I wanted to mix up the mood.

Exponents Challenge

L.I To understand how to use exponents.

This week for maths we have been learning about exponents. The exponent of a number says how many times to use that number in a multiplication. It is written as a small number to the right and above the base number. Our challenge this week was to find out how many heads the lerna Hydra character would grow in a certain amount of days. In 3 days the lerna Hydra grew 8 heads...In 10 days the Learna Hydra grew 1,024. I enjoyed this activity as we all collaborated together to get the answer.
