Today LS2 did Tuakana Teina with Room 2. We created pattern designs with Room two as a way to celebrate Te wiki o te reo maori language week. We started with a practice sheet that our buddies could practice on. Once they got their ideas, we started working on the designs. When we finished drawing the patterns we got the glue and started tracing our designs with it. Once we did that we got the string and cut it to the size we wanted and stuck it on. When everything was done we left the glue to dry. When we came back we got some more glue to put over the top to make sure the string wasn't going to come off. When all of that was done it was time for Room 2 to go. We will be continuing this hopefully next week. My buddy Nadia did a great job with her designs, I really likes the patterns she chose out as they were easy to glue on.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teacher is Mrs Anderson.

Te reo Challenge
L.I To create a family tree showcasing your family.

This week for the te reo challenge our challenge was to create a DLO showcasing your family tree. We started off with writing in our book and writing down the family members we knew, then if we wanted we could ask our family to know other family members. I haven't added all my family members as my family is too big for the google drawing but, other than that I enjoyed creating this family tree.

Its cool 2b me
LI: To strengthen our ability to make positive life choices.
This week we have started the DARE program. We have created this DLO that explains a little bit of ourselves. We have "Qualities I look for in friends, Something we wish for, Great things about ourselves, Our favorite foods, our goals, Someone we would like to be, fun things we like doing, and our best friends. I enjoyed creating this DLO as I was able to really think about the things I love. Especially when it came to something I wish for.

LI: To understand the meaning behind the acronym MRS C GREN
This week for Science we have been learning about Mrs C Gren. Mrs C Gren is the acronym for "Movement, Respiration, sensitivity, Cells, Growth, reproduction, Excretion and Nutrition". Taheesha, Chris, Vayan and I have created a google presentation explaining the different acronyms on separate slides. Our google presentation is also interactive so that people can get around the presentation easily.
Vincent Van Gogh Paintings | Sunflowers
LI: To paint a still life of sunflowers in the style of Vincent Van Gogh.
Last week we learnt about Vincent Van Gogh. We learnt that he was an artist when he was alive, and not so famous. When he had died people starting to get to know him and he became famous. Learning about Vincent van gogh, we decided as a class we were going to recreate one of his most famous paintings. The Sunflowers. We started off with practicing drawing on practice paper then using the paint to try an make practice flowers. After we did that we started with our real drawing, we started with sketching out where we thought our vase was going to go. Then we started using the paint. We practiced blending, and shading so that it would help with our real painting.

Vincent Van Gogh timeline
L.I To create a timeline to show the life of Vincent Van Gogh
This week, for literacy and inquiry we worked together to create a timeline of Vincent Van Gogh’s life. We used our smart searching skills to find information about Vincent Van Gogh. Vincent was an Impressionist artist, meaning he liked to paint a moment in time (still life). I worked collaboratively with Haylee, Sakina, and Taheesha to get this timeline completed. We enjoyed learning about Vincent Van gogh as we were able to learn something new. Something we all found interesting was that he cut off a part of his ear and sent it to his girlfriend, because he got into an argument with Paul Gauguin, who is one of his friends. This was interesting, because we wouldn’t imagine someone cutting off part of their ear.
