This week for the summer learning journey I completed Day 4, activity 2. This is what we had to do for this activity On your blog, write a short summary of the book. What was it about? Try to summarise the story in 6-8 sentences. Down below is my summary of the book.
The Seven Stars of Matariki tells the story of how these stars came to be in the sky. The main character is Matai, the youngest of eight sisters who is gifted with the magical ability to change into birds. When he sees his brothers bewitched by seven beautiful women, the adventurous Matai must step in. The Seven Stars of Matariki is a contemporary myth of love, magic and adventure that celebrates Matariki and tells how the star cluster came into being.
Greetings Florence,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for finishing this activity. The way you told the story in your own words sounds great. Who is your favourite sister and brother? My one's are Mitai and Tupu-a-Rangi.
Keep it Up!
Hello Florence,
ReplyDeleteGreet seeing you finish another activity. Your story sounds very intersting. For me it sounds like story that duffy would say and duffy would be like to find out more read the story. Keep it up!
Hi Florence!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great summary of the 'Seven Stars of Matariki'.
I like that you have managed to do it so concisely, great work!
Next time make sure all of your writing is in your own words :)
Did you enjoy this story?
I thought Miti was a pretty cool character - I have read a few different Matariki books but I think this one and the 7 kites of Matariki are pretty awesome! Have you read the 7 Kites of Matariki?
Have you learnt much about Matariki in school?
I know that when I was in school there was only 7 stars of Matariki but I heard recently that it is now counted as 9...
I found this article here that talks a little bit about it:
