New Zealand Sign language week

Last week Friday we learnt about Sign language. We were taught by Fiona. Fiona is apart of a huge Ballet deaf community and helps children that are not confident about their hearing. She taught us how to sign a sentence in sign language. We learnt that its important to use your dominant hand when you do letter sign language and when your telling someone your feelings you use some expression to show your emotion. We also learnt about the hand positions, so that the person that we are signing to will be able to see what we are trying to sign. I had a great time learning about sign language because I can talk to people that are deaf, or practice signing with my friends. I found learning about sign language interesting because I got to learn about why sign language is important.

Kiwi Can

This terms in Kiwi Can our theme is Integrity, and our topic is honesty. Integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is looking. An example of integrity is like someone who owns up to a mistake that they made. The role play activity that we played was about Integrity & Honesty. Our role play was about someone who smashed a window, That person was to own up and show integrity and honesty.. Something interesting about Kiwi can this week was finding out about the meaning of Integrity.

This photo is of my group, This photo shows how someone showed integrity by owning up to a mistake that they had made. When they did something wrong they need to show that what they did was wrong, and that if they show honesty they would get in less trouble.

Tech @ Tamaki College

Today we had our first session of Tech. For tech we have Mr Grundy again and are doing wood work again. We are working on our designs and Marking out our items. I am up to making the front of my Jeep. I have completed doing the sides of the Jeep. I need to mark out the front part of the car so that I can cut it and place it on the design. We also got to write out the process of our Designs. This was apart of our paper work. Next week I will be finishing off the paper work, the  paper work will be checked by Mr. Grundy and he will give us marks for what we wrote.

Problem Solving

This DLO shows how I used the strategy of  place value partitioning to solve addition questions. During our maths lesson we practised using this strategy  with number and word question. When I was answering the word questions I had to look for the maths so that I knew what numbers to work with. My screncastify shows the strategy I used. The more I used this strategy the easier it got.

Agents Of Change

Today I completed my Agents of Change DLO. On this DLO I wrote about what and Agent of change is, becoming and agent of change and how I will do this. I also added a photo me with the school Agent of change sign. Becoming an agent of change is apart of  my learning because it helps me achieve my goals, and helps me step out of my comfort zone. I am becoming an agent of change because I have set my goals for 2019 to achieve. When I achieve my goal I will be proud of myself and set a new one.
