In the beginning | Summer Learning Journey 2018

This week for the Summer learning journey I have completed the first activity. For the first activity we had to go on a site that had heaps of facts about New Zealand. We had to find 3 fun facts from the site. There were 20 fun facts to choose from. Down below you will see the 3 questions I chose. I chose questions that I knew because I would know more about then the other facts.

SSR Selfie

This week for SSR Selfie I read the book "The Baby-Sitters club" It was about 4 best friends running a Babysitting club. But one day the 4 Best friends got mad at each other. They didn't become Best friends anymore. Until Mary Anne (One of the 4 Best friends) thought of a way to get her friends back. She wrote an apology letter to all 4 of her friends and they also said sorry. They all became a group again and ran the Babysitters club together. For SSR Selfie you had to read for 15 minutes, In that 15 minutes you have to read. While your reading you have to memorise the parts of the story that you are reading in the story to record back onto your slide show. On the slide show you have to write down what you read. Add every bit of detail to make your writing longer.

Presentation slide | Rosa Parks | Biography | Philosophy

L.I To make a presentation about an activist.

This week fro Inquiry we carried on with our biography slide about our chosen activist. We had to write as much detail as we could about an activist. Our activist that we chose was Rosa Parks. We chose her because we know a lot about her and her story. We were to work in rather a group of 2 or a group of 3. I was in a group of 2. I worked with Victoria. The presentations had to be interactive, meaning that the presentations had to have a quiz for people to play. The presentations we made were to be presented in front of the whole class. In your group every person from your group had to say something about the activist. Victoria and I have a slide showing what parts we say. On the presentation it had to include a biography, the philosophy, history/story and the LS1 application. Our quiz only had 4 questions. The questions could rather be hard or easy. it really depends if you know Rosa Parks or not.

Idioms | Reading

L.I to find idioms from a book or an article from the internet.

This week for reading we focused on Idioms. Our task was to find idioms in a book or a site. We had to work collaboratively. We had to work in a group of 3. In my group was Victoria and Andrew. We had to find Idioms from the 2 sites we were provided with and an Idiom from books. We had a point system. The Point system was used to count up the amount of idioms we did. Our group got 20 points. We had to sort our points by giving it 1 or 2 points. 1 point meant that we found an idiom from a book or an article. 2 points meant that we got the idiom from the 2 sites that were provided for us. I really enjoyed using my researching skills to find idioms on the internet.

Maori

L.I to match the Maori places with the correct English places. When we started Maori Mrs Whaea Odie played Christmas Carols. We had to try and guess what song it was in English. I put my hand up for every song but I was not picked. This week for Maori we had to match the Maori places with the English places. We had to translate the Maori Places for the english Place. We had to use our smart searching skills to find the correct places. We had to write down where it is like if it were to be in South Island or North Island. While we were doing that Mrs Whaea Odie played Maori Christmas Carols. At the end of our session we had to listen to Mrs Whaea Odie to get the answers for the Maori Places.

Kiwi Can

L.I To recap what we did over the term.

This week for Kiwi Can we didn't do our normal routine. It was fun week. For Fun week we had to say what we learnt about. We also had a challenge. The challenge was where we had to memorise 3 catch phrases. The first catch phrase was the catch phrase for "Respect for our School" The catch phrase went like this "Kiwi Can says, take pride, in who you are, respect your school and you'll go are"The catchphrase for "Respect for our community" went like this "Kiwi Can says, Come in unity for our community. We had to remember the catch phrase and say them to Mrs Peio and Mrs Paige. The catch phrase for environment 'Kiwi Can says, Resepect our waters, air and trees keep it tidy keep it clean" We talked about what respect means, what we can show respect for and lots more.
