Lowest Common Multiple

L.I To practice using Lowest common multiple.

This week for maths we have been leaning about Highest and lowest common factors. I have already completed the highest common facts DLO and it is already on my blog. The DLO I have created explains what a lowest common factor is, what the word Factor means, and an example of LCM and how you work it out. I enjoyed learning about Lowest and Highest common factors because I found it really challenging and easy at the same time.

Highest common factor

LI: To use the Highest Common Factor.

This week in maths, Haylee, Sakina, Victoria and I created a DLO on the highest common factor and lowest common multiple. In our DLO’s we’ve included what the highest common factor is, how to find the HCF, what the word factor means and an example of finding the HCF. We all enjoyed working together to create this DLO and liked how we could revise on this math area.

Why is it important to make wise choices?

Are you aware of what's been happening recently? Covid-19 is taking a really big impact on our lives and has changed 2020. Coronavirus is a deadly virus that has spread around a majority of the world and a vaccine is yet to be found.

If you have any symptoms of Covid-19 then please stay home or get tested. It doesn’t hurt anybody to take time out of your day to get swabbed. It takes an average of 5 - 6 days for symptoms to show up after being infected. If you get tested positive for Covid-19 you are sent to a managed isolation home to stay in for an average of 2 weeks. You get tested twice, one at the start of your 2 weeks, and one before you leave.

People have been escaping managed isolation. Due to their actions they have been fined and sent right back. If you escape isolation, you're putting other people's lives in danger and you're putting them at risk. As a result places the escapers have visited were closed off and cleaned thoroughly to keep others safe. This is the perfect example of where people have made stupid decisions that have resulted in them dealing with the consequence.

Please stay safe and follow the restrictions when you're out in public. Get tested if you are showing signs of covid-19 symptoms. Remember covid-19 is an easily spread virus and you need to take it seriously.

This week for writing we have been going over explanations. We have been revising it so that we are reminded of how to write an explanation. We did this so that we are reminded for the term 4 writing test. I created this explanation about corona virus and how making wise choices relates to it. We also went over DRAFT, so that we made sure our writing made sense. I enjoyed doing this as I was able to revise on writing explanations.

What is inertia?

This week for reading we have been learning about inertia. Inertia is a force of movement of an object. That object can be anything but it can move if touched. I have created this DLO showcasing what inertia is, an example of inertia, and a fun fact about how inertia was created. I also added a photo that explains the definition. I enjoyed creating this as I was able to find out something new.

What would I do as prime minister?

Local Shop Stores - Free image on Pixabay

If I was prime minister I would help small businesses get a head start on their job. Maybe help put up poster, advertise their shop etc.
I would do this because.. Small businesses are created so that these people can receive money by selling things to other people. I think doing this will help a lot of businesses as they can provide for their families and this is a good sign of paying it forward. I also think this would be a good way to gain the attention of other small businesses in need.

Who has my vote?

This week we have been looking at the elections. We have been working on a google doc that asks us who gets our vote. We got activities like looking through this site and seeing what parties policies are. There were many parties that we could choose from. We also chose 2 topics out of the many that related tpo the listed things we did in a week. We then got to choose which party we would vote for, I chose the Labour Party because i think that they are responsible with their platform. I created a DLO to explains who I voted for, Why I voted for them, and who they are. I also added the candidate I chose.

DARE Program

For the past few weeks LS2 has been doing the DARE program. The DARE program has been used at our school for many years. It is used to teach young kids how to cross the road and older kids about life choices and how to avoid drugs. We learnt that some drugs can be good for us (Prescribed by doctors). For example Asthma Inhalers, those are good for asthmatics as it is a medical need for people who run out of breath. We created a DLO that explains what we did, what the DARE program is, and answers to some questions. For this DLO I have worked with Ellenora to get it completed. We enjoyed this as we were able to learn about the right and wrong of drugs.

Food Tech w/ Mrs. Heka

Today we had another session of food tech with Mrs. Heka. Today we made corn fritters.

Ingredients:
Flour 1/3 of a cup
Baking Soda 1 half of a table spoon
Canola Oil 1 tablespoon
2 Eggs
Milk 1/4 of a cup
Can of Corn

Seasonings:
Salad dresser
Sweet Chili sauce

Equipment:
Pan
2 bowls
Wooden spoon
Measuring Cup
Measuring spoons
Whisker
Spatula

We started off with measuring the Flour and Baking soda and put it all in one bowl. Then get the eggs and crack them into another bowl, with those two in 2 separate bowls, put the flour and baking soda in the egg. Mix all that up with the whisker until all the small clumps of flour were dissolved and gone. When finished pour the can of corn into the mixture, and mix. After that get a pan and put your oil on it, let the oil sit. Then get the mixture and put it on the pan as if it were to be pancakes. One person cooks the corn fritters while the other person gets the salad and places it in their container with Salad dresser on it. When the first few corn fritters are cooked put them on top of the salad. Repeat for the rest of the mixture. When all is cooked pour some sweet chili sauce on top and DONE! The year 8's enjoyed making this as it was very delicious.
