Ta'ovala Maths Challenge

L.I To find the most efficient strategy to solve the problem.

Today we have done another maths challenge. Todays maths challenge was about the tongan Ta'ovala...This challenge was to find out how many metres you would need to make 26 Ta'ovala. In this DLO we showed how we got our answers, and explained what we did, we also have the Rule, which is explaining the maths strategy we used. e.g Addition...I enjoyed this activity as I got to collaborate with Victoria to find my answer.

  1. Greetings Florence, Wow I really enjoyed reading your strategizing. I have done something similar to this with my partner. I liked how you explained your strategy clearly.
The strategy that we used was:
    ½ of 12 = 6
    ½ 6 = 3
    ½ of 3 = 1.5
    1.5 x 26 = 39
Probably next time, try to include the main information in you DLO, so that we know what you used to solve this question, and also include your learning intention.

How you get to 1.5 in your strategy?

    Keep up the good work!
