Day 3 | Activity 1 | SLJ | Week 3

This week for the summer learning journey I completed day 3, activity 1. THis activity was where I had to pick any bird of my choice, I had to describe, where it normally lives, what it normally eats and post a picture of it. Down below is my finished activity.

The bird that I chose was the Orange Fronted Parakeet. Here is the description of this bird.

This bird lives in the forest located in south island beech forest valleys, It normally eats Seeds, Flowers, Buds and invertebrates. Orange fronted parakeets are endangered, their are not much of these bird left. I voted for this bird because I wanted New Zealand to help take care of this bird. There is less then 1,000 of these bird.

  1. Greetings Florence,

Great Work. You are focusing really hard on whats happening in the SLJ. I like it how you've explained what you needed to do for this activity. The image of your Orange Fronted Parakeet looks beautiful. You have put a lot of work into this activity. I love it how you've used adjectives to describe this birds personality.

    Nice Work!

  2. Hello Florence,
I think the reason to why you choose the Orange Fronted Parakeet is very interesting. It is sad to know that there is less than 1,000 of these birds left. I wish withn just a click lots of birds won't disapear. Keep it up!

  3. Kia ora Florence,

What a beautiful, colourful and vibrant bird you have chosen! It’s funny, despite it’s name the Orange Fronted Parakeet, it doesn’t look that orange haha. You have given us such a detailed blog post explaining some important aspects of the bird, for example the Orange Fronted Parakeet usually eats seeds, flowers & buds!
Do you have any ideas which you could do to help save these birds from becoming extinct? My idea is leaving some food out in a bird feeder in the trees.

I am really looking forward to hearing from you :)

    Cheers,
    Georgia E
