Maths Challenge

L.I To find the most efficient strategy to solve the problem

This week in maths, Sakina, Haylee and I worked together to complete a maths challenge. We used the most efficient strategy to solve this maths challenge. To solve this strategy, we first subtracted 6.90 fron 12 which equals to 5.10. Then we multiplied 148 by 5.10, equalling to 759.90. This maths challenge was quite challenging to solve. I really enjoyed completing this challenge.

Matariki challenge

L.I: To create a drawing that shows the Matariki stars.

This week for the Te reo Challenge we have been given a challenge to create a drawing that showcases the Matariki stars. We were given the rule that we are not allowed to trace. As you can see I made my drawing and have named them. Did you know that there are many legends on the Matariki stars. Some believe that one of the stars is the mother and the other 6 are the Daughters. I really enjoyed doing this activity because I was able to use my drawing skills to create it.

Exponents Challenge

L.I To understand how to use exponents.

This week for maths we have been learning about exponents. The exponent of a number says how many times to use that number in a multiplication. It is written as a small number to the right and above the base number. Our challenge this week was to find out how many heads the lerna Hydra character would grow in a certain amount of days. In 3 days the lerna Hydra grew 8 heads...In 10 days the Learna Hydra grew 1,024. I enjoyed this activity as we all collaborated together to get the answer.

Maths Challenge

L.I To use the most efficient strategy to solve the maths questions.

This week for maths, we were given another fun maths challenge. For this challenge I worked collaboratively with Lukah to get this DLO completed. This challenge was to find out how many fish Hemi had caught in a certain amount of hours. Also we write down the rule to how we figured the question out. E.g (Skip counting in 20's) When you write that, it shows people that you skip counted in 20's to get your answer. I enjoyed doing this activity as I got to collaborate with Lukah to solve these questions.

Daily Maths Challenge 1

L.I To find a strategy thats most efficient to you.

Today I have decided to blog my maths challenge. For this maths challenge I worked with Sakina and Haylee, we worked collaboratively to find the answers. Our strategy is in the box in the bottom right corner. This maths challenge was to find out how many lollies would be left out if nana used a certain amount of lollies for the Kahoa lole.

Haiku Poem 3

LI: To correctly structure and write a three verse haiku poem

Today I have decided to blog another Haiku Poem. This poem is about how Maui slowed the sun, this is a summary of the book but as a Haiku Form. I worked with Victoria for this task, we worked collaboratively to ge this completed. The Haiku structure goes like (5 syllable sentence for the first sentence, then a 7 syllable for the second sentence, then a 5 syllable sentence for the last sentence of he verse) but, for this task we did 5 verses.

Today I have decided to blog my second Haiku challenge. This Haiku is around the topic "winter". This Haiku task was to create a 3 verse story, meaning we have to connect a sentence to the next one. This Haiku challenge I worked with Haylee and Sakina. We worked calloboratively to get this completed, Thank you to Sakina bc she helped with alot of the ideas :).

Today I have decided to blog the first Haiku Challenge that I created along with Haylee, Sakina and Taheesha. This task was to think of a sentences that have  do with the topic you chose e.g (winter). A Haiku is when you write 3 sentences but the first sentence has to be 5 syllables. The second sentence is 7 syllables and the last is also 5 syllables. For this haiku poem we chose the topic "Ocean". We wrote our sentences then added a picture to show our audience what our text was guiding.

Auckland Museum Challenge

Today I have completed another Home learning Blogging challenge, This blogging challenge is related to the Auckland War Museum. The Auckland War Museum is  one of New Zealand's most important War Memorials, it has a bunch of information about what happened in the world, New Zealand's History and Much more. This presentation includes what it was like as a Soldier, 3 interesting facts about Soldier life and why I found those facts interesting, The parade that is held outside of the Auckland Museum, including a Vocaroo on what the Parade is, and Why it is held. 

Mount Ruapehu Challenge

Today I have completed another Blogging challenge along with Liletina and Afatia, This blogging challenge is about Mount Ruapehu. In this presentation we explained What Mount Ruapehu was, a short animation retelling the story of Mount Ruapehu and lastly the temperature that Mount Ruapehu can go down to. We all worked collaboratively to get this completed.

Milford Sound Challenge

Today I have completed another Blogging Challenge, this presentation is about Milford Sound. Milford Sound is a fiord in the southwest of New Zealand’s South Island. In this presentation it includes the cost for my family to go to Milford Sound, next is if I would go on a Tour and a Cruise, I said no, my reasons are in the Presentation. Lastly we have a drawing of a Cruise ship on the water surrounded by Mountains just like the Milford Sound.

Skyline Luge Challenge

Today I have completed another home learning challenge. This challenge is all about the Skyline in Rotorua or Queenstown. This presentation includes why helmets are worn, how they protect you  and the thing that you could have faced if you didn't wear a helmet, next I included what activity i would choose if I went there, next I wrote how much it would be for my family to go on all the activities, lastly I added the distance to get to Rotorua from New Zealand and how long it would take.

Leaf Art Challenge

Today's Home Learning challenge was to create an animal out of leaves collected from your backyard. I got creative and created a Cat, I got a little more creative by putting more leaves around it making it look like it was surrounded by nature. Down below will be 3 facts on cats.

1. Cats conserve energy by sleeping for an average of 13 to 14 hours a day
2. A group of cats are called a clowder.
3. A male cat is called a tom, a female cat is called a molly or a queen, while young cats are called kittens.

Whoa! Studios Challenge

This week for a home learning activity challenge Victoria, Sakina, Haylee, Taheesha and I created a collaborative DLO about Whoa! Studios. The first activity consisted of where Whoa! Studios is on a map with the address and how much it would cost to see the super villain show. The second activity was a 10 word description of what it would be like at the park and a suggested part of the park we would recommend to a friend. For the bonus activity we made a biography of Toshiko Horiuchi Macadam. It was really exciting learning about Whoa! Studios because it may be a place some consider going!

Name Exercise

Today I have done a Challenge, which is the Name Exercise. This is where you have your name and there is a sign with all the letters in the alphabet and beside the letters are different kinds of exercises. My exercises were -

F - 10 BURPEES
L - 2 MIN WALL SIT
O - 25 BURPEES
R - 15 PUSH UPS
E - 1 MIN WALL SIT
N - 40 JUMPING JACKS
C - 30 SQUATS
E - 1 MIN WALL SIT

Sky Tower Challenge

This week for another home learning challenge, Victoria, Haylee, Sakina, Taheesha and I decided to do the Sky Tower activities. For the first activity, we wrote a list of 5 facts about the Sky Tower, using our smart searching skills. For our second activity, we created a new mascot for the Sky Tower and gave an explanation about why we chose them. For our last activity, we chose an activity we could do at the Sky Tower and wrote down why we chose it, what it is and how much it would cost to do that activity.

Maths Challenge

This week for maths we have been solving Maths Challenges that were set out from Mrs. Anderson. This question above is one of the 4 independent questions I completed. This activity was where we would solve 4 questions that we do by ourselves and then do another 1 with your math group, I worked with Taheesha. I solved this questions using the strategy Algorithm and Long Subtraction.

Maths Game

The Math game I created helps you practice your time tables. If you get the correct answer you will see I have made an animated GIF that shows you your answer is correct. If you get an answer wrong you will see another animated GIF that shows your that your answer in incorrect, also you get the option to look at a video that helps you understand a bit more of time tables. Creating this Math games challenged me to think about my wrong answers just as much as my correct answers because I didn't want to make it too east, I also had to think about the layout of my game because I wanted to make sure that my game was neat and tidy. When I thought that I had finished creating my game I got a friend to play my game and test out the links of each question. I also got feedback from my friend which made me change up my game.

Collaborative Challenge

This week for Maths we had to work out a maths problem, these maths problems were provided on the LS2 Maths Site. We had to solve 2 maths problems, But I finished this one first. This task was easy to do because all I had to do was use my addition skills. We also had another Maths Problem it was about a class that going Camping. For this activity we had to use our multiplication skills to solve the question. We were given a clue, the clue was to read the problem carefully. We then re read the problem and found out why we kept getting the answer wrong. It was because we didn't read the problem carefully.
