Romeo and Juliet stick act

This week for writing we have been learning about Shakespeare. LS2 have been creating DLO's about the play Romeo and Juliet. The DLO we were told to create was a Animation, but we decided to switch it up and create a popsical stick act. We were in a group of 3, in my group was Victoria and Nidhi and we all gave each other roles for each character. I was Friar Lawrence, Victoria was Romeo and Nidhi was Juliet. The process of creating this act was to first create the characters digitally, also create the background for the characters to be in front of. We would also change the way the characters are positioned, meaning the Juliet could be sitting down or kneeling. Then we would get the characters and background printed and then cut them out. Next we use the class iPad to record the scene and last we record a voice over to use over the video. I really enjoyed this activity because it really helped me to understand the story of Romeo and Juliet.

Perspective of shoes

This week for writing we had created a personification/perspective writing. We did this by getting into partners and and facing back to back. We had a shared Google doc that had both my partner and I. We tried to create a paragraph of the perspective of Shoes. The challenge was to not talk with each other during this activity, whilst doing this activity we tried to use the same ideas to write this journey of a Shoe. We also tried to the use the 5 senses of a human to create the journey of old or new pairs of shoes.

Reading Presentation

This week for reading we have been reading books about Horrible Histories. Victoria and I have chosen the book "The Vile Victorians and the gorgeous Georgians" We have chosen one topic in the book and that is the Child Labour and Schooling. We have gathered all the information that we learnt from the book and created a DLO and Kahoot. LS2 enjoyed playing the Kahoots that everyone made and were very competitive. I really enjoyed learning about the different horrible history books that everyone had chosen to read.

Transformation - Change

This week for Maths we have been learning about transformation. We have created  DLO that explains the different types of transformation like Rotation, Reflection, Translation, Symmetry and Enlargement. I have created a drawing using 3 shapes and have used it to transform it. I have really enjoyed doing this DLO because it is helped me understand the different types of transformation.

2019 Film Festival

This week we went to Sylvia Park with the others school that are in the Tamaki cluster. We went to the Sylvia Park Cinemas to watch the movies that each school has made. We also watched the movie that we created. We were able to go to the top of the cinemas to sit in the bigger chairs. Whilst on the bus back from the cinemas we were able to entertain the little kids by rather playing some hand games, or talk to them about how they enjoyed the movies or which movie they liked the most.

Foodprint

This week we had a visit from Michael from Foodprint. Michael has told us about her job, and why she started it. She started it because she was concerned about the food waste in the world. She has showed us a video all about food print and what it does. Foodprint is an online app that you can use to buy food that people have not been able to sell at their stores due to the lack of customers that like the kind that was made. Michael was planning this app/store for 2 years but she has had it open for 6 months. In the 2 years of planning, she was creating the logo, the name of the store that she would open up and the stores that she would partner up with to get the food from. She thought that there was to much food that was thrown away and not gone to someone who might've needed it. She thought that if there was less food waste there would be enough food for the future 2050 and that there would be enough food for the upcoming 10 Billion people. I have really enjoyed listening to what she had to say.

Tech @ Tamaki College

This week for tech we have been coding our M-bots to move into a letter D. Mr. Krishna has helped us and given us feedback on what to change with our coding. He has helped me to change the speeds of my wheels. I was the first person to complete the challenge of making the M-Bot move into a Letter D. Mr. Krishna recorded the M-Bots going in a D and has told us to put it in our Robotics Folder. I have really enjoyed tech this week and I can't wait to see what we do next week.
