Kiwi Sport | Gymnastics
This week for Gymnastics we learnt how to do different kinds of skills. Equipment was set out or the class to use. There were 3 rotations that were int he hall. Each rotation had different kinds of Gymnastic equipment. There would be different groups at each rotation. We learnt that there are positions that we need to do whilst doing a stretch. On the first Rotation the activities were Back roll, Trampoline, Handstand and the Spring board. On the second rotation the activities that were there were the Building Strength, Wall handstand, Bars and Front support roll. Lastly the last rotation activities was the beam, Forward roll, Cartwheel and the bunny hop beam. I really enjoyed gymnastics this week because I found half of the activities really easy and the other half really challenging. I loved doing the stretches because it helped me with my skills during each rotation.
Who am I?
This week for tech we did our first session of our second tech rotation. The year 7s are currently with Mrs Ferguson for tech. The topic of our tech sessions is Graphics. Today we have created a DLO about ourselves. On the DLO we could add photos of the things we like, we also added an avatar maker of ourselves. How to make a Hangi | Procedural Text
Today I have completed my writing task. The task that was set out to complete was where we wrote a procedural text about how to make a Hangi. We talked about what a Procedural text was and what we knew already about procedural texts. For the procedural text that we wrote, we used a site to find out how a Hangi was made. We also watched a video of someone making a Hangi. We learn about what was included in a procedural text so that we could add in our instructions. There are 4 parts to making a Hangi but 22 steps altogether. I included the title, materials/ingredients/equipment that will be used in the making of a Hangi, the numbers of order, verbs to start of sentences and I added the positive end.
Space Rotation | Rotation 2
This week was our first and second session of our second inquiry session. We have moved onto second rotation for the term. I am now currently in Mr Ogilvie's Inquiry Rotation. In Mr Ogilve's rotation we are learning about the differences of Real rockets and fictional ones and also launch sites around the world. We got into partners to do these activities. I worked with Haylee for these activities. For finding out the launch sites around the world, we created a google map and used a site that was provided to find the address for each launch site. When we found the address of the launch sites we pinned the area and saved it. The maximum amount of areas we needed were around 10. For session 2 we learnt about the difference between real and fake rockets. We made a copy of a DLO that had an area to write our information about our rockets in. We used our researching skills to find out the information about our rockets. We also had to find a rocket to find information about. I did the real rocket so I chose the "Delta IV Heavy" and Haylee chose the "Millennium Falcon". After finding out a load of information about the rockets we moved onto the next activity. For this activity we made a google slide/doc to fit in a glossary. We had about 9 words to find out meanings for. Haylee and I were able to find out some information about each word, we were not allowed to copy and paste any meaning. We put the meanings in our own words. When finished with the glossary we moved onto drawing a rocket and labelling its parts. By doing this we found an image of a rocket to trace off. We then changed the colours of the rocket. We then researched the parts of a rocket. We then started labelling the rocket parts. After this we were completed, we were told to finish these activities off in our own time. I enjoyed the first 2 session of this weeks inquiry lesson.
Tech @ Tamaki College
This week at Tech we had our last session of our first tech rotation. At my rotation this week we all tried to finalise our whole design because we wanted to take our designs home. My design is completed but, Mr Grundy will complete some left out parts. I enjoyed working with wood for the past 6 weeks. My favourite part about the Wood Work is probably the part where we get to pick 8 designs to choose from. I found that my favourite part because I got to create a design that I would like to make.

LS2 Stardome Trip
Then Tobias talked about the stars and was talking to us about the constellations, scorpion, Sagittarius and Maui's hook. While he was talking about Jupiter and Saturn one fact about those planets is that the ring that is surrounded is made out of ice dust and that and Jupiter has 79 moons. When we left the room we explored the activities that were set out for everyone to use. I enjoyed the trip, and I liked learning about space.

Excellence & Innovation | Create 3 motivational posters
Today I have decided to blog my DLO about inspirational people. This is under the Excellence and innovation care award. This DLO is about quotes from inspirational people. This is where I get to create a quote but, inspired by inspirational people. I enjoyed doing this activity because it was fun to read other peoples quote and finding out that it was all quotes that helped people throughout their lives.
Information Report
Emperor penguins have White bellies and dark backs, they are camouflaged from their predators. The point of view of a predator of an Emperor penguins is that they look like the environment such as rocks, snow and maybe the water. Predators can hardly spot these penguins because of the colours they have. Their necks are a light colour of yellow and orange, that is why sometimes they are spotted but the predators don’t look for their neck, just the bait. Emperor penguins are the largest species of penguin out of the whole penguin species.
Emperor penguins eat Krill, Squid, Silverfish and Crustacean. The emperor penguins are afraid of Seals and Orcas. While they hunt they have an eye out for any predators, they are most likely to swim to an iceberg or some sort of land. Emperor penguins like to look down into the water and spot their prey. Once they spot their prey they dive down or slide into the water and try to catch them.
The emperor penguins live in cold climate areas such as Antarctica, Africa and other parts of the southern hemisphere. These penguins are warm blooded so they do not get cold while in snow. Emperor Penguins live in: Australia, South America and the Galapagos Island but, they normally are spreaded in the Southern Hemisphere of Antarctica. Emperor penguins spend most of their lives in the water or on Ice.
Penguins love to socialise with the other penguins around them, but they are not so good with human beings like us. They don’t like many humans because of the hunting complaint that went down a few years ago. The breeding seasons go through out April - December.
Emperor penguin are penguins that love to play in the cold, they have dark backs, light bellies, they waddle on land, they socialise & Share and they eat Krill, Squid, Silverfish and Crustacean, They are afraid of Seals and Orcas because they will eat them if they are spotted. A lot of the penguins predators ate a lot of them, they were also hunted by humans so they nearly went extinct but, they were.
This week for writing we did a informational report on Penguins. First we filled out a planning frame, We had about 10 minutes to write one whole paragraph. After 10 minutes we have 7 minutes to talk to someone near us. We wrote about the appearance, Diet, Habitat and behaviour. We had 40 minutes to to use our notes to write our whole report, We had small cuts during the test to talk to a critical friend close to us.

Night Light | Reading | Reciprocal Reading
For week 1/2 my reading group (Rotoroa) read the book "Night Light". This story explained information on the moon. The book had information like "Why the moon changes shape, Why it has dark circles on it, and more about the moon." We found out that the Moon changes shape every month/day because of the reflection that the sun is facing. The sun reflects it's light onto part of the moon, so whatever part that has the reflection is from the sun. After reading the book and summarising the story, we moved onto the DLO. The DLO was about "Why the moon changes shape, Glossary on words we didn't understand, Labelled Diagram and a explanation written in our own words." I found learning about how the moon makes its shapes really interesting because I thought the moon just wanted to be any shape it wanted.

In the game bang we were focusing on our listening skills. Once the energiser was finished we talked about our theme. We talked about how honesty could effect other people, How honesty can be better or worse to the people around you. After talking about Honesty we moved onto our Activity. Our activity is called Honest cards. This was where we were given a scenario of how we can show honesty. We were given 1 scenario card to talk with our group, there were 3 scenario's in total. As a group we all talked about the scenario and answered the questions. Kiwi Can was great this week I found learning more about honesty really interesting.
